The Agfa-Gevaert Group develops, produces and distributes an extensive range of analog and digital imaging systems and IT solutions, mainly for the printing industry and the healthcare sector, as well as for specific industrial applications.
Agfa has been struggling with information overload and a massive amount of different data sources since several years. A strategic approach to facilitate their employees to find and retrieve relevant information was needed.
After thorough research and market analysis, Agfa decided that the Google Search Appliance was the search solution that could meet the company’s goals and needs to counter their information overload and findability issues.
Agfa has chosen the Google Search Appliance as their strategic Enterprise Search solution. The goal of their strategic search project is to enable their employees to search faster and easier through one consolidated entry point, and to provide more relevant and intelligent search results. Questio, Enterprise Search competence center of the Cronos Group and Google’s Belgian GSA reseller, has successfully deployed the first phase of Agfa’s ambitious and strategic search project.
Together with Questio as their integration partner, Agfa decided to break down the project into several phases.
The first phase of the implementation included the ingestion of internal public content (Alfresco, Lotus Notes, Intranet websites) published on their Corporate Intranet, and to create one search engine front-end where all users can search for general or more specific information. Questio covered all end-to-end activities, including the functional & technical analysis, configuration, support after go-live, training and documentation.
When the intranet search went live, Agfa promoted the solution via a Google-like branding campaign.
